March 8 Blog
International Day of Happiness is on March 20th. Each year the United Nations gives International Day of Happiness a theme, this year’s theme is “Keep Calm. Stay Wise. Be Kind.” As we continue to face this ongoing pandemic, this year’s theme is a chance to find uplifting and positive ways to look after ourselves and one another. (actionforhappiness.org made a really great calendar with ideas to help you keep calm, stay wise, and be kind if you want to check it out.https://www.actionforhappiness.org/media/863032/coping_calendar.jpg )
Here are a few of our favorite ideas from this list you can plan to do on March 20th to make the day feel a little extra special:
- Learn to do something new or do something creative.
There’s just something about working on a DIY or art project that puts a smile on your face like nothing else. Set aside a little bit of time for yourself on March 20th to work on something that you want to work on. We posted about one of our favorite DIY projects last summer:
You can transform one of our circular trays into a corkboard. How cool is that?!
- Make a plan to meet up with others again later in the year.
Now isn’t really the best time to be visiting friends, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make plans on things you can do when it’s safe to go out and socialize. One of our favorite things to plan are picnics!
Why not text a friend you’re ready to see and start planning your future picnic outing? We have the perfect basket!
- Do three random acts of kindness, no matter how small.
Everyone loves surprises. In preparation for March 20th, go ahead and pick three people you want to make smile and send them something that they’ll love. Don’t feel like you have to go over the top… even filling a small gift basket with candy and goodies will let them know you’re thinking of them. (Bonus points if you send a card too!)
